Movement work is rooted in the expressive nature of dance, the most fundamental of the arts, involving a direct expression and experience of one’s self through the body. Movement work is a method of teaching this awareness of how the body moves so that the body begins to function with more ease and freedom of movement, balance, and coordination and with less tension. This work is often able to reduce pain, limitations in movement, and bring about greater self esteem and general wellness of being. It does so by helping to remove old habitual neurological and psychological patterns within the body.
Energy movement therapy involves accessing and modifying or manipulating a client’s energy field to bring about healing and balance to all levels of the body. This work is based on the theory that matter is simply a denser form of energy and can be perceived by the senses. Various schools support this form of healing, some gaining their teaching from ancient medicine; others derive their teaching from contemporary scientific physics. As knowledge of the human body expands to include the more subtle realms of nature, energy work will become more greatly utilized.
We invite all who are involved the movement of body and energy to join us as we are the forerunners of an expanded method of healing.
